Environmental Services
Overview
inGauge Energy offers a comprehensive suite of environmental services designed to support projects across Australia, with a niche focus on the Northern Territory. Our team of specialists and engineers understand the environmental and regulatory challenges of getting projects, approved, and we’re ready to tackle those challenges head-on.
Our team offers environmental expertise through a detailed understanding of regulatory and operational issues from the ground up.
What we do
We secure approvals. We manage compliance.
And fearlessly tackle tough projects.
Since day one, we’ve built Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems (HSEMS) tailored to our clients’ needs. This is capability developed in response to client feedback, regulatory requirements, and the delays they face in securing approvals for their projects.
Why us?
Practical and implementable solutions
As a lifecycle well engineering and environmental solutions company, we understand what it takes to deliver projects from ideation. We know from experience that environmental obligations can be administrative, expensive to implement, and make achieving positive environmental outcomes a challenge.
Using our established and trusted in-house team, we build environmental management plans and strategies which are practical and implementable with a focus on key controls to prevent environmental harm.

End to end support: Approval to construction and beyond
Our team brings a deep understanding of the Northern Territory’s unique environment, including its regulatory landscape and operational nuances. This allows us to deliver tailored environmental and integrated health
and safety services.
Our expertise spans all phases of engineering, construction, project development, and management, ensuring sustainable practices that align with environmental values and regulatory standards.
We are deeply committed to the future of the Northern Territory, facilitating and enabling collaboration with regulators and stakeholders to achieve the best possible environmental outcomes while enabling our clients to meet project timelines and budgets.
Integrated Health, Safety and Environmental
At inGauge Energy, the wellbeing of people and our impact on the environment is at the forefront of our minds when delivering work. Our integrated HSE approach seamlessly combines health, safety, and environment across all facets of our operations.
We’re proud to be Australia’s only dedicated lifecycle well engineering and environmental solutions provider, also offering expertise in health and safety, as we continue to drive innovation, and deliver cost-effective, practical solutions for our clients.
Leading HSE and Environmental Approvals
Since securing our first environmental approval in 2019, we have achieved multiple approvals, effectively managed diverse compliance obligations, assisted a client to achieve approval of the first gas plant in the Beetaloo Basin and are leading the successful rehabilitation of seismic lines.
Since inception, our business has specialised in delivering comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems (HSEMS) tailored to the needs of our diverse projects and clients. This capability was developed in response to client feedback and the significant delays operators face in securing environmental approvals for their projects.
By building this expertise in-house, we enable our clients to:
- Reduce costs and rework through system and project integration
- Expedite project delivery through integrated HSE and engineering
- Mitigate project delivery delays that arise from reliance on third parties
- Ensure alignment between technical Well Operation Management Plan (WOMP) submissions and well engineering design
- Navigate regulatory compliance in the NT with experienced approvals specialists with a strong track record in successful Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).

What we've done
We’re proud to be Australia’s only dedicated lifecycle well engineering and environmental services provider with three ISO accreditations.
This provides our clients with peace of mind knowing that technical delivery and regulatory submissions are pragmatic, achievable and integrated – and approvals expedited.
Regulatory and Stakeholder Collaboration
Proven track record of stakeholder / interface management (EMP, WOMP, Landholder, Land Council, and Traditional Owner negotiations).
Established working relationships with DLPE, DITT Technical, and DITT Land Access to ensure seamless approvals and compliance.
Ongoing Compliance Management
Managing hundreds of compliance obligations through our dedicated in-house team of specialists, ensuring our clients remain compliant with environmental obligations.
Our Achievements
- Achieved the first regulatory approval in the NT under the new Petroluem (Environment) Regulations in 2019.
- Delivered six of the first 10 EMPs submitted under the new NT regulations.
- Secured approval of 9 EMPs to-date under the new regulatory framework.
- Produced the first broad-scope EMP approved in the NT, covering multiple operations across multiple well pads, including seismic activities.
- Delivered the first large-scope EMP encompassing 370km seismic, drilling, fracking, and production testing of six lateral wells across 10 potential locations.
- Secured approval for the first multi-well WOMP under the new NT regulations.
9 EMPs approved including:
30
wells for drilling
1
gas plant
1
water treatment facility
23
wells for hydraulic fracturing
~161km
of flow lines
~1144km
of seismic lines
Our Core Services
We handle environmental approvals either in partnership with your team, or completely in-house, offering the flexibility to contribute and be part of the end result. We assess the risks, map the constraints, propose site specific controls (inc. plans and procedures), propose monitoring plans to address regulatory requirements and expectations.
While we’re known for our expertise in oil and gas, our knowledge extends to projects involving heavy equipment, earthworks, waste/water management, and land clearing, including mining and renewable energy projects.
We co-ordinate pre-disturbance environmental surveys (both ground and desktop) to assess environmental conditions, study local ecology, and evaluate potential impacts. This ensures site-specific controls are proposed with input from local contractors.
We map your project’s footprint to analyse environmental constraints and inform project site selection, leveraging our GIS specialists to ensure clarity and precision.
We maintain clear, transparent, and respectful communication with regulators. Our goal is to ensure they trust and understand the work we do, aligning expectations throughout the process.
As an ISO-certified company, we design HSE systems that meet industry standards. Our team is skilled in creating systems that ensure compliance, verify controls, and implement continuous improvement based on real-world experience.
We create plans and procedures for (but not limited to):
- Waste management
- Spill management
- Biosecurity management
- Greenhouse gas abatement
- Methane emissions
- Erosion and sediment
- Rehabilitation
- Emergency response plans
We know the regulations inside and out and are experienced at managing compliance obligations. Our field and office teams monitor progress to ensure transparency, liaising with regulators to meet their expectations and address any concerns promptly.
We handle:
- Field and remote environmental monitoring
- Compliance reporting
- Groundwater, emissions, incidents and rehabilitation
We develop robust Environmental Management Plans tailored to Northern Territory conditions and regulations, supporting our clients to manage and mitigate local environmental impacts and uphold compliance with NT-specific regulations.
Our team manages NTEPA referrals and conducts assessments to meet the requirements of the Northern Territory Environmental Protection Authority, identifying and addressing potential environmental risks early on.
