Well Integrity Gets Targeted

Well Integrity Gets Targeted

inGauge Energy has started a project with a major Australian gas producer to review and update their well integrity management system. The aim of the project is to be much more pre-emptive and targeted in response to well integrity issues to ensure money is spent resolving issues rather than simply re-confirming known problems.

At the moment most Australian companies are using increased well inspection frequency as their primary mitigation for failed or nearly failed wellbore barriers. This reactive approach has a significant ongoing inspection cost whilst not addressing the cause of the issue. The intention of this project is to develop targeted solutions for different well types, such that the well remediation timeframe is more certain, remediation operations are fit-for-purpose, and well risks are better understood.

The intention is to have a suite of tools available and establish the most economic way of extending the operating life of wells, and reducing generic well integrity monitoring spend so that this money can be targeted towards actual well remediations.

Gas Flaring at Carpentaria 1

Gas Flaring at Carpentaria 1

Empire today updated the market with images of the flare at Carpentaria 1. This is a particularly exciting time for Empire as years of work starts to show itself in gas to surface. Tom (inGauge Completion Engineer) is getting to be an expert with the inGauge drone, taking some fantastic images of the flare shining forth on site, as the sun sets over the vast expanse of the Empire acreage. Tom was quoted as saying that using the drone was the only way of keeping Kelvin out of the photos.

Having completed the initial CTU unload, we are now preparing to run the production test completion in the well. Daniel, our frac engineer came back happy but exhausted after his stint on site, having encouraged every pound of the 1.4 million pounds of proppant pumped and then overseen the CTU operations.

Tom and Scott (inGaugue OCR), will oversee the next phase of the well on site as Empire tests the well to get data that will allow us to understand and develop the Beetaloo.
Latif, who has been project managing the project for inGauge couldn’t get to site himself as he is already planning the next operations.

Empire Energy Commences Fracture Stimulation Program at Carpentaria-1

inGauge is proud to confirm commencement of Empire Energy’s fracture stimulation program at its Carpentaria-1 site in the Beetaloo Basin. The fracture stimulation program will test four productive target zones. Stimulation and subsequent flow test operations will be undertaken over the coming month. The results will then be assessed.

The operations kickoff included a VIP visit from Empire CEO Alex Underwood and Mining and Industry Minister Nicole Manison. Minister Manison commented that she was looking forward to hearing results of the production testing program, “It was great to see the site and the hard work going on to progress onshore gas in the Territory,” Ms Manison said. “Seeing Empire’s work first hand, they demonstrated their commitment to sustainable environmental practices, safety and working with Traditional Owners.”

It was great to see our Principal Engineer, Kelvin Wuttke, didn’t shy away from the cameras when he led the VIP visit – looking good Kelvin!!

Leigh Creek Energy Project Commences Operational Activities with Stage 1 FI

2021 sees the commencement of planning and operations for Leigh Creek Energy. Following the successful completion of the Pre-commercial Demonstration (PCD) phase, inGauge Energy has been commissioned by Leigh Creek Energy to plan and execute the subsurface engineering phase of the Leigh Creek Energy Project (LCEP). Located in a picturesque part of the Northern Flinders Ranges, Leigh creek is a well-designed purpose built mining town, owned by the State Government. Following the decommissioning of the mine in 2015, Leigh Creek Energy is working to transform the area with the LCEP, one of the biggest infrastructure projects of its type in Australia.

The photos are from the field visit we recently conducted to scout the initial gasification well locations. It is an amazing area and we look forward to progressing through the engineering planning phase to commence operations later in the year.
